For the record, the Supreme Court acted exactly as the National Human Rights Commission asked it to in many cases on this issue since 2003. The then NHRC chief, Justice A.S.Anand was a recently retired Chief Justice of India. The present sitting Supreme Court judges were all his personal friends.
